When it comes to iconic football kits, few nations can rival Italy.
Known as the Azzurri, the Italian national team’s kits have been a symbol of elegance and footballing excellence for decades.
From historic World Cup triumphs to unforgettable European Championship runs, Italy’s jerseys have always been more than just apparel — they’re part of football history. Let’s take a look at our top 10 Italian national team kits of all time.
2002 World Cup kit
Italy's 2002 World Cup kit is a cult classic. Still to this day widely regarded as their nicest kit ever, marked by revolutionary technology and clean, elegant style. The jersey was made with stretchy Lycra fabric so the referees could spot their shirts being pulled by the opponents. Unfortunately, with the amount of top talent Italy had in their prime, that tournament didn't end how we had hoped, losing a controversial match in the Round of 16 to hosts South Korea. Results aside, this kit was an absolute stunner from the style, fit, colour and fabric.

1982 World Cup Kit
The 1982 kit holds a special place in the hearts of Italian fans. With its simple royal blue polo design, collar with Italian flag stripes, and logo with golden trimmings, this jersey became iconic when Italy lifted the World Cup in Spain. Paolo Rossi’s heroics in this kit are etched in football history.
Â
2006 World Cup Kit
Another World Cup-winning kit, the 2006 design by Puma blended tradition with modernity. Its centered crest, unique gold numbers, and subtle design details reflected Italy’s style both on and off the pitch. The jersey became legendary after Fabio Cannavaro lifted the trophy in Berlin following a dramatic final against France.

Â
1994 World Cup Kit
The 1994 kit is remembered for its bold geometric patterns embedded within the fabric, giving it a textured look. Roberto Baggio wore this jersey during his unforgettable run to the World Cup final, though it’s also tied to the heartbreak of the penalty shootout loss to Brazil.
Â
Euro 2004 Away Kit
It's not often an away kit makes headlines for the Azzurri but this one was the exception. Another tournament where Italy were favourites to win with the squad that they had, ended in disappointment. But at least they looked good on the field. This clean white kit with a centered logo, longer sleeves and gold name/number sets was an absolute beauty.

Â
Euro 1996 Kit
The first Nike Italy kit to make our list. Unfortunately Italy's time with Nike was short with some controversy because the FIGC didn't allow brand logos on kits at the time, so the Nike logo wasn't actually featured on the match worn kits. This shirt though, is the epitome of a retro kit. It's loose oversized fit with the double collar and white/gold ribbing is a classic.
Â
1995 Kit
Another Nike kit makes the list, but this one was actually never worn in a tournament. Originally receiving mixed reviews because of it's brash white collar and star patterned print all over the shirt, this one has become somewhat of a cult classic with the emerging trend of retro kits.
Â
Euro 2020 Kit
The 2020 kit by Puma introduced a touch of luxury, featuring a subtle Renaissance-inspired pattern in the fabric. Italy’s victory at the Euros, capped by a thrilling final against England, ensures this kit’s place in the pantheon of greats.

Calcio Home and Away Kit

The jersey's print pays homage to the some of Michelangelo's most famous works: The Statue of David, The Sistine Chapel, The Creation of Adam and La Pieta.
The centred Italy crest takes inspiration from Italy's 2004 kit. The colours of the print and neck/sleeve cuffs represent the heavens and purity which are often depicted in Michelangelo's work.
Â
Â
2019 Third Kit
Italy and Puma made headlines when they dropped the Green kit which drew inspiration from the Renaissance period. Italy actually wore green once before this in their the 2-0 win against Argentina in December 1954 at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome. This kit was beautiful and a breath of fresh air. It marked the beginning of their journey of conquering Europe.

Euro 2004 away kit. Immediately think of Totti. The white and gold just scream class, it was always the shirt I wanted as a kid but never got. 2002 blue kit honorable mention for the material
So hard for me to choose my favorite. 2000, 2002, 2004 home and away, 95 Nike, 2008 away, light blue confeds. I love them all. Adidas needs to step up their game!
